Help Keep Our Biosphere Region Connected

MABS is seeking to raise a minimum of $50,000 before year-end to help sustain the people, place and relationships behind the Mount Arrowsmith Biosphere Region.

The Mount Arrowsmith Biosphere Region is part of UNESCO’s worldwide network of Biosphere Reserves.

Here, that work is built on relationships - people learning together, sharing knowledge, supporting community ideas, caring for this place, and finding ways to work together.

Much of that work has a public home at ts’xwelikwshnawtxw, MABR’s Education Centre in Qualicum Beach.

Community groups meet and plan there at no charge. Programs, workshops and conversations happen there. And when someone comes through the door with an idea, question or community need, they can find someone ready to listen, understand, and help them find the people, knowledge or opportunities that may help them move forward.

More Than a Meeting Place

ts’xwelikwshnawtxw is one visible part of something much larger.

Across the Mount Arrowsmith Biosphere Region, MABR helps bring together community organizations, stewardship groups, schools, researchers, governments, volunteers and wider Biosphere Region networks.

Sometimes that means coordinating an event. Sometimes it means helping a group promote its work, introducing people who should know one another, supporting a community conversation, creating opportunities for youth learners, or helping an idea find the knowledge or relationships it needs.

The visible event is only part of the work.

Behind it are listening, planning, communications, introductions, coordination, follow-up and continuity.
